In a swift and commendable operation, Udhampur Police rescued an eight-year-old girl within just two hours of her abduction and arrested three accused involved in the crime. The prompt action by the police not only prevented a major tragedy but also brought relief to the victim’s family and local residents.
According to reports, on Monday, May 25, 2026, Sindoor Singh, son of Beli Ram and a resident of Tikri Pangeri, lodged a complaint at Rehmbal Police Station stating that his 8-year-old daughter, Shwansi Devi, had been abducted by unidentified persons while on her way to school.
Acting immediately on the complaint, police teams launched a search operation and set up checkpoints in various areas. During the investigation, police became suspicious of a vehicle bearing registration number HP64A-9928 from Himachal Pradesh.
The vehicle was intercepted in the Khoon-Battal area, where police safely rescued the kidnapped minor girl during a search operation. Remarkably, the child was recovered and reunited with her family within just two hours of the complaint being registered.
Police also arrested three accused in connection with the kidnapping. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ganja Singh, son of Laxman Dass and a resident of Ramban, along with Rita Devi and Deep Ram, son of Naveen Chand, residents of Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Police officials stated that several important leads have emerged during the preliminary investigation. Interrogation of the accused is underway to determine the motive behind the kidnapping and whether more people were involved in the crime.
