A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 21-year-old youth in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district after his car skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge late Tuesday night.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Wasim Ahmad (21), son of Mohammad Qasim Gujjar and a resident of Hingni village in the Ramsu area. He was reportedly driving alone when the accident occurred on the Nachilana–Badarkoot link road.
Officials said the vehicle lost control and plunged several hundred meters down a gorge. The impact was so severe that Wasim died on the spot.
Due to the difficult terrain and darkness, rescue operations faced significant challenges. The body was recovered from the gorge on Wednesday morning and shifted to PHC Ramsu for post-mortem and other legal formalities.
After completing the necessary procedures, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites. The incident has left the family and local community in deep shock and grief.
Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
