GANDERBAL: In a major crackdown on the illegal hoarding and suspected black marketing of LPG cylinders, the Ganderbal Police conducted a targeted search operation in the Nunner Takia area, recovering a large cache of unauthorized domestic and commercial cylinders.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the unlawful storage, a police team raided the premises of Javid Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Nunner Takia. During the search, authorities discovered a massive stock of cylinders from various gas companies being stored without the required licenses or legal permissions.
The cylinders were officially seized on-site in the presence of officials from the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department.
Public Safety Hazard: Police emphasized that storing such a massive quantity of highly inflammable LPG cylinders without safety protocols not only violates the law but also poses a severe explosion risk to the local community.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the full scale of the illegal operation and identify potential accomplices. Following the raid, FIR No. 91/2026 was registered at the Ganderbal Police Station under Sections 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act and Section 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
