The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a severe weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting widespread rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and high-velocity winds over the next 48 hours. Residents are strongly urged to take necessary precautions.
The Weekly Forecast
June 4 – 5: Peak Activity. Expect one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds across most places in the Union Territory. A few locations will experience brief, intense downpours.
June 6: Gradual Clearance. The weather will remain generally cloudy, with brief showers limited to scattered areas.
June 7 – 12: Dry Spell. A complete shift in weather, bringing generally hot and dry conditions across J&K.
Key Hazards & Impact
Wind & Storm Alert: Thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorms will be accompanied by gusty winds averaging 40–50 kmph, with isolated peaks reaching up to 60 kmph.
Flash Floods & Mudslides: Brief, heavy cloudburst-like showers on June 4 and 5 could trigger sudden flash floods and mudslides in vulnerable pockets of both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Water Safety: Boating and shikara rides should be suspended immediately during adverse weather conditions.

Stay Indoors: Avoid traveling or staying out in the open during active thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds.
Secure Property: Be mindful of flying debris or weak structures due to 60 kmph wind gusts.
