RAJOURI, JUNE 15: In a major crackdown against the misuse of habit-forming medicines and to ensure strict compliance with drug regulations, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma, today conducted surprise inspections of medical establishments in Rajouri town. The inspections were carried out in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr. Manohar Lal Rana and SHO Rajouri.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed records pertaining to the sale and distribution of habit-forming formulations and other regulated medicines. Detailed scrutiny of documents and stock registers was undertaken to verify adherence to prescribed norms and licensing conditions.
At M/s Hopewell Medicos, Kheora Rajouri and M/S Star Medicos Gujjar Mandi serious discrepancies were detected including the non-maintenance of sale records through the mandatory computerized billing system and alleged irregularities in the sale of habit-forming medicines.
Taking a serious view of the violations, action was initiated under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Consequently, the retail drug sale licenses of M/s Hopewell Medicos and M/S Star Medicos Gujjar Mandi were suspended by the Licensing Authority pending further orders.
The DC emphasized that the sale and distribution of habit-forming formulations and medicinal products must strictly conform to the regulatory framework to prevent misuse and safeguard public health. He reiterated that the district administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards any violation of drug regulations.
The DC cautioned that any medical establishment found violating licensing conditions or indulging in the unauthorized sale of regulated medicines would face stringent legal action. He directed all chemists and medical establishments to maintain proper records, ensure transparency in transactions through computerized billing and strictly follow all licensing norms.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the district administration remains committed to the fight against drug abuse and to making Rajouri a drug-free district. He added that surprise inspections of medical establishments would continue across the district to ensure compliance with regulations and protect the interests of the public.
