June 16: A major road accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Tuesday, leaving one person dead and three to four others injured. The tragic incident occurred near a petrol pump in the Dyani area along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
According to reports, an Alto car traveling from Jammu towards Kathua lost control and rammed into a road divider with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the vehicle was completely crushed, leaving the car badly damaged.
The accident triggered panic in the area as local residents rushed to the scene to assist the victims. Soon after, teams from the police and highway patrol arrived and launched a rescue operation.
All the injured occupants were shifted to AIIMS Vijaypur for emergency treatment. Local sources said that one person lost his life in the crash, while three to four others sustained injuries. However, official confirmation regarding the exact number of casualties and the identities of the victims is still awaited.
Preliminary information suggests that the stretch of road where the accident occurred often experiences traffic congestion, making it difficult for smaller vehicles to maneuver when larger vehicles pass through. Nevertheless, the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. The devastating condition of the vehicle highlights the severity of the impact, making it one of the most serious road accidents reported in the region recently. The tragedy has left residents shocked and concerned about road safety on the busy highway.
