Five pilgrims undertaking the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a roadside parked dumper at Sangoor Chowk on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Udhampur district on Saturday, officials said.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the accident site immediately after the incident and shifted the injured pilgrims to the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur, for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Ansh (15), son of Rakesh Verma; Rakesh Kumar (44), son of Ram Naresh; Vishal Verma (21), son of Kamlesh Verma; Surjeet Kumar (20), son of Narinder; and Neerja Verma (33), daughter of Ram Naresh, all residents of Lakhimpur and Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh.
