Two people were killed and several others injured after a boulder struck a passenger bus in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said.
The incident took place near Raggi Nallah along the Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway at around 9:30 a.m. amid torrential rainfall. According to officials, a large boulder hit the bus, causing extensive damage and trapping several passengers inside.
Rescue teams rushed to the spot and pulled out the injured passengers from the damaged vehicle. One of the rescued persons succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a hospital.
The rescue operation was still underway when the last reports were received, officials added. The incident comes amid heavy rains that have triggered landslides and shooting stones at several places across the region.
