A Traffic Police Head Constable was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in the Qazigund area of Kulgam district on Saturday morning.
According to officials, the incident took place near Shampora Bridge in Qazigund when a truck bearing registration number JK03Q-9011 allegedly lost control and hit the traffic police officer.
The impact left the officer critically injured. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the spot.
The deceased police official was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, son of Abdul Sabir Bhat, a resident of Kulpora.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings. The exact circumstances leading to the accident are being ascertained, while further details are awaited.
