Shia Locals Protest Islamabad Suicide Bombing on Srinagar–Baramulla NH

Baramulla, J&K:
Shia locals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday staged a protest on the Srinagar–Baramulla National Highway, condemning the suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad. The deadly blast, which claimed several lives and left many injured, triggered strong reactions among the Shia community in the region.
Holding placards and raising slogans, the agitators expressed deep grief and anger over the attack, terming it an inhumane act of violence against innocent worshippers. Protesters demanded strict action against those responsible and called for global unity to end terrorism targeting religious communities.
The demonstrators said such attacks not only violate basic human values but also aim to spread fear and sectarian hatred. “Targeting people inside a place of worship is an attack on humanity itself,” a protester said, while urging international bodies to take serious note of recurring attacks on religious minorities.
The protest led to temporary disruption of traffic on the national highway, with vehicles halted for a brief period. However, the demonstration remained largely peaceful, and traffic was restored after police intervention. Security personnel were deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
Community leaders emphasized that the protest was a symbolic show of solidarity with the victims and their families in Pakistan. They also appealed for peace and harmony, stressing that violence in any part of the world affects humanity as a whole.
The Islamabad suicide bombing has been widely condemned across regions, with calls growing louder for stronger international cooperation to combat terrorism and protect places of worship from such brutal attacks.
