Heavy Snowfall Blankets Vaishno Devi, Patnitop and Kashmir; Life Disrupted

Heavy snowfall was recorded across major parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi, Patnitop and the Kashmir Valley, transforming the region into a white landscape but also causing widespread disruption.
Due to continuous snowfall, road connectivity in several areas was severely affected, while air traffic also faced interruptions. Many interior and hilly roads were closed as a precautionary measure, and authorities suspended vehicular movement at several points. In view of the adverse weather conditions, several schools across the region remained closed to ensure the safety of students.
Despite the challenges posed to daily life, the snowfall has brought a silver lining for the agricultural sector. Experts say the fresh spell of snow is expected to be beneficial for apple orchards and wheat crops, as it improves soil moisture and provides the necessary chilling period, which is crucial for better yield.
Meanwhile, the administration has advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official advisories until weather conditions improve.
