Srinagar, Aug 13: A soldier was martyred in a pre-dawn gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The exchange of fire took place around 3:30 AM in the Churanda area of the Uri sector. According to officials, the soldier sustained critical injuries during the encounter and later succumbed to them.
The nature of the incident remains unclear. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether it was a Border Action Team (BAT) assault or a foiled infiltration attempt.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the Army or the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding the details of the incident.
