Suspected Pakistani Spy Arrested from DRDO Guest House in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, Aug 13: Rajasthan Police CID (Security) Intelligence on Tuesday arrested a suspected Pakistani spy from Jaisalmer, who was allegedly leaking sensitive information related to India’s defence activities.

The accused, Mahendra Prasad (32), was working as a manager at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Guest House at the Chandan Field Firing Range — a key site for missile and weapon trials.

According to CID (Security) Inspector General Dr. Vishnukant, heightened surveillance had been initiated ahead of Independence Day to monitor any anti-national or subversive activity. During this exercise, intelligence inputs pointed to Prasad’s suspicious conduct.

A native of Palyun in Almora district of Uttarakhand, Prasad was found to be in contact with a Pakistani intelligence operative via social media platforms. He allegedly passed on classified information regarding the movement and activities of DRDO scientists and Indian Army officers at the Chandan testing range.

Following his detention, Prasad was subjected to a joint interrogation by multiple security agencies. His mobile phone underwent detailed technical analysis, which confirmed the unauthorized transmission of sensitive defence-related data.

Based on the evidence gathered, Prasad was formally arrested on charges of espionage under relevant sections of Indian law. Authorities are now investigating the full extent of the breach and whether additional individuals may be involved in the information network.

Officials have described the arrest as a serious security concern and a reminder of the persistent threat posed by foreign intelligence agencies targeting India’s strategic assets.

Security forces have urged personnel, especially those in sensitive and high-security zones, to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activities or approaches.
