The Traffic Police in Jammu stopped a Rapido rider who was allegedly operating a motorcycle without proper number plates while providing ride services. DSP Traffic Ashwini reached the spot, where officials initiated action against the vehicle.
During questioning, the rider reportedly stated that he had recently purchased the motorcycle and that its permanent registration number had not yet been issued. He said that he had been provided with a temporary number. However, the motorcycle was found without the prescribed number plates on its front and rear, while a ride had also been booked through the Rapido platform.
DSP Traffic said that the vehicle would be seized and that the matter would be taken up with the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The officer also stated that a letter would be sent to the RTO recommending action against the dealer, including possible cancellation of the dealer’s trade certificate.
The officer described the incident as a violation of motor vehicle rules, particularly because the motorcycle was being used for commercial ride services without the required number plates.
Traffic officials examined the vehicle and its documents at the spot as further action was initiated.
The incident serves as a reminder to vehicle owners and commercial riders to ensure that their vehicles meet the applicable registration and number-plate requirements before using them on public roads.
