BJP Demands Two-Year Report Card from Omar Abdullah Government, Questions Unfulfilled Promises

Jammu: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has questioned the performance of the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding a detailed report card on the promises made during the Assembly elections.

During a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, on Friday, party spokespersons Dr Tahir Chowdhary, G.L. Raina and Rajni Sethi raised concerns over the implementation of several electoral promises.

The BJP leaders questioned the status of the promised 200 units of free electricity for domestic consumers and sought clarity on employment-related commitments. They urged the government to explain the progress made over the past two years and provide a clear timeline for fulfilling pending promises.

Rajni Sethi highlighted commitments related to women’s welfare, including monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000 to female heads of poor families, free public transport for women, 12 free LPG cylinders annually and increased marriage assistance. She also raised questions about free education for girls up to the university level, support for women entrepreneurs and the delay in establishing a Women’s Commission in Jammu and Kashmir.

G.L. Raina expressed concern over delays in Panchayat, Block Development Council (BDC) and District Development Council (DDC) elections, stressing the importance of strengthening grassroots democratic institutions.

The BJP demanded transparency and accountability from the government, asking it to publicly disclose the status of its electoral commitments and explain how and when the remaining promises would be implemented.
