Good news for government job aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced recruitment for 127 posts of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) in the Public Works Department (PWD), Roads and Buildings. <Cite refs={[“turn456854view0″,”turn456854search2”]}/>
According to the recruitment notification, the online application process will begin on November 16, 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications until December 15, 2026. Applicants must possess a valid domicile of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Educational Qualification and Age Limit
Candidates must hold a three-year diploma or a prescribed degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution to be eligible for the posts.
The age limit will be calculated as of January 1, 2026. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the Open Merit category is 40 years, while candidates from eligible reserved categories, including SC, ST, RBA, OBC and EWS, can apply up to 43 years of age. The maximum age limit for persons with benchmark disabilities is 42 years, as specified in the recruitment details.
Application Fee and Selection Process
The application fee is Rs 600 for candidates in the general category and Rs 500 for eligible reserved-category candidates. Selection will be based on performance in an OMR-based written examination and merit. The examination date will be announced separately.
