Jammu, Friday: A bridge collapsed near a petrol pump in the Bantalab area of Jammu on Friday, causing panic in the locality. Initial reports suggested casualties, but officials later clarified that no deaths have been confirmed so far.
According to eyewitnesses, the structure suddenly gave way, leaving several persons trapped under the debris. Rescue teams, along with heavy machinery, were immediately rushed to the spot to clear the rubble and search for those trapped.
Locals also gathered at the site as the rescue operation continued. Authorities said the exact cause of the collapse and the number of injured or trapped persons would be known after the operation is completed.
