J&K Police Arrest Three Alleged Drug Peddlers, Including Woman; 190.5 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance Recovered

Kulgam Police has intensified its campaign against drug trafficking, arresting three alleged drug peddlers, including a woman, in two separate operations and recovering a total of 190.5 grams of heroin-like substance.

In the first operation, police conducted dynamic naka checking at Upper Market Qazigund near Town Hall, where a woman was intercepted after being found moving under suspicious circumstances. During a search of her bag, police recovered 20.5 grams of heroin-like substance packed in a black polythene envelope.

The woman was identified as Aqsa Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Dar, resident of Hardpora Akinpora, Anantnag. Police Station Qazigund registered FIR No. 221/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, and investigation has been initiated.

In another operation, a naka was established near the North Portal of Navyug Tunnel. The naka party of Police Post Navyug Tunnel intercepted a silver-coloured Swift Dzire bearing registration number JK09E-9019.

During checking, police recovered 170 grams of heroin from the possession of two occupants of the vehicle. They were identified as Imran Mir, son of Mohd Akram Mir, and Muhbat Dar, son of Maqsood Ahmed Dar, both residents of Karnah, Kupwara.

Both individuals were arrested, and FIR No. 222/2026 under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Qazigund.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other persons allegedly involved in the drug network.

SSP Kulgam said that the police will continue its sustained drive against drug trafficking and take strict legal action against those involved. He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and promptly share information regarding drug trafficking with the police, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
