Continuing its strict drive to ensure road safety, Reasi Police has registered a case against the driver of an overloaded commercial mini-bus for reckless and negligent driving that endangered the lives of passengers. The vehicle has also been seized.
According to police, on July 8, 2026, a team from the Police Check Post (PCP) Sool under Police Post Kakryal was conducting routine traffic checking and patrolling when it noticed a commercial mini-bus being driven rashly. During inspection, the vehicle was found carrying passengers well beyond its authorized seating capacity, posing a serious risk to their safety.
The police immediately intercepted the vehicle and apprehended the driver, identified as Shubham Kumar, son of Dewan Chand, a resident of Sool, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi.
An FIR No. 229/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving and acts endangering human life. The offending vehicle has also been seized for further legal proceedings.
Reasi Police reiterated that reckless driving, overloading of passenger vehicles, and compromising public safety will not be tolerated. The district police said special enforcement drives against traffic violations will continue to ensure safer roads and prevent avoidable accidents.
