Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, has recovered around 300 grams of stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹50 lakh within 24 hours of registration of a theft case.
The case was registered on September 22, 2026, after a complaint by Harvinder Kour, wife of Harvinder Singh, a resident of Ashok Nagar, Jammu. She reported that around 300 grams of gold ornaments, her original passport and other personal belongings had been stolen from her bank locker at J&K Bank, Shastri Nagar Branch, Jammu.
Following the complaint, Gandhi Nagar Police registered FIR No. 266/2026 under Section 305 BNS and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, the SHO Gandhi Nagar, along with the police team and FSL team, examined the place of occurrence and collected available evidence. Police also made effective use of technical and human resources to trace the stolen property.
As a result of sustained efforts, the police successfully recovered the stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 300 grams and valued at around ₹50 lakh.
The recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO South Jammu and the guidance of SP South Jammu, with overall supervision and guidance of SSP Jammu.
Further investigation and legal proceedings in the case are underway.
