Shock in Jammu After Gunfire Inside Residential House Claims Life of 35-Year-Old Deepak, Investigation Underway

JAMMU: A gunfire incident inside a residential house in Jammu this morning left a 35-year-old man, identified as Deepak, dead, triggering panic and shock among residents of the area.

According to information gathered at the spot, the incident took place at a house where preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi were underway. A Ganesh idol had also been placed inside the house. Soon after the incident, police and other officials reached the spot and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Deepak was reportedly engaged in selling newspapers and was supporting his family through the work. According to neighbours, he is survived by his wife and two children. Residents described him as a decent and helpful person and expressed shock over the incident.

Neighbours said they did not clearly hear the sound of gunfire at the time of the incident. One resident recalled hearing dogs barking and later coming outside, after which information about the firing came to light.

Police have sealed the room where the incident reportedly occurred and are examining the area for evidence. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is also being checked to establish the sequence of events and identify the person or persons who may have entered the premises.

Officials are also expected to speak to family members and other witnesses as part of the investigation. The exact circumstances and motive behind the incident have not yet been established.
