UDHAMPUR: Amid the ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, a suspected Over Ground Worker (OGW) has reportedly been detained near the encounter site, according to sources.
The individual was reportedly taken into custody by security forces following suspicious activity in the area where the joint operation against terrorists is underway. He is being questioned to ascertain his identity and whether he had any links with the terrorists operating in the region.
The operation is being carried out jointly by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in the remote and high-altitude forest areas of Udhampur. Despite incessant rainfall and difficult terrain, security forces continue to conduct searches in the surrounding forest areas.
Earlier, the Army confirmed that two suspected terrorists affiliated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were killed during the ongoing operation.
Following the detention of the suspected OGW, security agencies are investigating whether the individual had any connection with the terrorists or had provided them with logistical or other support.
However, the identity of the detained person and his alleged links have not been officially confirmed so far. Further details are expected after the completion of questioning and verification.
Security forces have intensified searches around the encounter site to rule out the presence of any other suspects and ensure that the area is fully secured.
