Jammu, August 11: A major road accident took place on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Sangam Morh when a truck travelling from Kashmir towards Jammu lost control and rammed into a roadside crash barrier.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the front portion of the truck. However, the driver escaped unharmed and no injuries were reported.
Following the accident, the truck’s oil tank ruptured, causing oil to spill across the highway and making the road extremely slippery. The situation created a serious risk for other commuters, with several two-wheelers reportedly skidding while passing through the area.
Traffic Police rushed to the spot and alerted motorists to drive cautiously. A water tanker was also called in to wash away the spilled oil and prevent further accidents.
Local residents said that the stretch, particularly the curve near Sangam Morh, has witnessed similar incidents in the past. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, while efforts are underway to remove the damaged truck from the highway.
